Physiological measurements are captured by a logger surgically implanted in the subject, and wirelessly transmitted to a transreceiver module (RF box), through an antenna, both being attached to the cage.
Up to 10 subjects can be housed in the same cage.
When received by the RF box, physiological signals are sent to a Personal Area Network (PAN) controller which sends data to the computer, running the Mercury software.
Each PAN can handle up to 64 RF boxes.
A Communication box serves as an interface between the logger and the computer, to programm the loggers.
The logger can be programmed to record temperature as often as once per minute, to different intervals (7 different intervals can be selected, giving greater flexibility).
The lifespan of the telemetry logger depends on the loggin intervals and data transmission intervals.
